- Corded Phones vs. Cordless and Cell Phones -- As a child my grandma had a phone that was connected to the wall with a cord, was part of a party line (sharing the phone line with multiple houses), and had a phone where to dial it was a round turn dial.
This then brought up how many businesses do meetings through conference calls and video chats. - Snail Mail vs. Email, IM, Text Message -- When my grandmother was younger the ways of communication were through a phone call or writing letters. In today's day in age, high school students spend about 75% of there time emailing, instant messaging and text messaging. Communication doesn't take 5 days for information to be passed, everything is done in a split.
- Education then vs. Education now -- While my grandma was in school they had chalk boards in the classroom. She told me a story about how they would throw the erasers up to the ceiling to get the chalk out of them and to leave white marks on the ceiling. Today all classrooms have white boards that use dry erase markers. Also every classroom at school has a SmartBoard that helps use all the tools that the world can offer to make every person get the best education ever.

I should probably start going to bed earlier and waking up earlier, but...I don't want to(:
ReplyDeleteThis was really interesting. How old is your grandmother? I liked the thing about the chalkboard erasers. The Christian school I went to when I was in elementary still had chalkboards; I thought everyone had them and my middle school was weird because it has dry-erase boards. Lol.
shes in her 60's i believe. I remember having a chalk board in like second grade but after that it was all dry erase.
